About Us

Welcome to Colerne Old School Playgroup. We have been caring for pre-school children for over thirty years, helping them to learn through play. We provide early years' education in a safe and stimulating setting for two to five year olds, five days a week.

We are located in a beautiful Cotswold village in a historic building alongside St.John The Baptist Church. We are at the heart of the local community and provide an important play and learning environment in which local children can prepare for transition to full time school at Colerne CofE Primary School. Our playgroup room has been recently redesigned and refurbished, providing a vibrant and modern room. We also have a newly installed playground which features facilities for children with special needs.

As a playgroup our aims are to:

- offer your child the chance to socialise and play with others of a similar age in a professional and inspiring educational environment;

• • - work in partnership with you to help your child to learn and develop;
  • - offer you and your child a service which promotes equality and values diversity.

Key worker

Each child’s key person is available to them at all times and the family comes together at special moments in the day for small group activities and meal times. The key person supports the children’s learning and documents individual development through photographs and observations. This ensures that learning opportunities are planned to meet the unique needs and interests of each child.

Colerne Old School Playgroup offers a free flow system which gives children the freedom to move around the different areas, allowing them to develop their own interests which can then be built on and encouraged by their key person.

The Playgroup seeks to promote children’s learning and development holistically. This means that we promote opportunities for children to actively explore. This enables them to get a sense of the world around them and form their own ideas whilst also developing their skills, knowledge and interests.
